Today, the Smallest Space Cadet of them all had a Judo Tournament or Exhibition in Geneva. Being an eight year old white belt, it is not a big deal, except in the sense that it is an interesting experience, and brings something to old and young alike. The one thing that it does work well as is a great environment for photography. The light and space of the gymnasium allowed me to capture the following shots, amongst many others that did not work so well. Digital photography is great. Before I hesitated to shoot, now, it is just as you want, it is effectively free.
The first two are of the Smallest Space Cadet of them All, and the second is an exhibition match between a black belt woman and her teacher. Formally, he is the better fighter, but she has a great attitude for the fight as you can see, and I was favoured with a perfect combination of light and shade for this one.
I liked this last one the best, as, completely by chance two students passed behind the fight, and as the shutter went, there was a good combination of light and shade, and a kind of line of red competition belts on white suits, with the zing of one blue glove to make it more interesting. Happenstance, but very satisfying.
The basis of martial arts is mindfulness. (One of Mrs Spaceships preoccupations, being a psychiatrist.) Being in the here and now. Sadly, being here is only for now. This blog will being getting the same recent intermittent attentions as recently, as I have to go to the UK, France, Holland, and Johannesburg starting Wednesday. The first three visits are one day each, and the SA trip will be for one week this one. It might be feast or famine on the blogging depending on the films on the long haul flights.
This much I can say, SAP Banking is really getting a lot of interest at the moment.
